The End of Year Book Tag // HOW DID TIME GO SO FAST

SOOOO I don’t really know where I saw this anymore??? I have seen this tag EVERYWHERE and I figured WHY NOT because I am a go with the flow kind of girl. I had written down the questions (I hope they are the right ones hahaha because I’m honestly to check) so here we are!

1. Are there any books you started this year you need to finish?

I’m normally not one for reading multiple books at once. Or starting a book and not finishing it without the intent of totally DNFing because I am a very decisive person*

BUT I have started reading Harry Potter out loud to my boyfriend because it’s the only way I could get him to read it.

AND I’ve continued my OWN Harry Potter reread and am about 150 pages into Order of the Phoenix**

So yeah, I think it’s safe to say that I would ideally like to finish these books before the year’s out haha

**Again. Why. Is. It. So. Big.

2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition to the end of the year?

UM. This question is kind of weird??? I don’t really read based on seasons, BUT An Enchantment of Ravens has an autumn prince in it SO THAT COUNTS, RIGHT???

Also as autumn is a time of nostalgia I think I can easily squeeze Harry Potter into that category.

3. Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Like. This year??? Because then the answer would actually (shockingly) be no. New releases I am waiting for:

Obsidio by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufmann

Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

I KNOW ALL OF THESE ARE SO FAR AWAY DON’T JUDGE ME. And I know I’m the exception here but I don’t actually even KNOW what books are coming out for the rest of the year hahaha*

*I know, shame on me for being a terrible book blogger!

4. What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

GODSGRAVE (admire beautiful cover here)

Clockwork Angel (if not all of TID????)

The Language of Thorns

5. Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your FAVORITE???

BUT I will say I have a feeling about Godsgrave

An Enchantment of Ravens definitely shocked me, I did not expect to like it so much. Other than that, not really?? I mean, I try to only read books I’m fairly sure I’ll like/love so I kind of have loved most of my reads this year luckily!

6. Have you already made reading plans for 2018?

Who do you think I AM???

I never plan ahead. And if I DO I never stick to my TBR so why bother hahaha. I have my releases I’m looking forward to, but that’s about as far as I’ll go, plan wise.

*Guys I’ve been binge watching Jenna Marbles videos on youtube hahahha

Aaaaaand that’s it??? Now you know all of my deepest darkest secrets.

That wasn’t this post. MAH BAD.

Also excuse me while I freak out about the year being almost over??? WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN. I don’t want winter to come and to be perpetually freezing for 5 months * cries pitifully *

TELL ME do you make TBRs ahead of time?? How far ahead do you plan your bookish life? Are there any books on here you have strong feels about?

    1. Haha I totally respect people who can plan out entire TBRs for a whole month in advance. I’m like I don’t even know what pants I’m going to wear until I open my closet XD
I do have my few anticipated releases but yeah I’m with you hahaha

  1. Wow that’s a lot of Harry Potter for this year Esther, then again is there such a thing as too much Harry Potter? In my opinion no. 😀
I completely agree with you about the books you cannot wait for next year, especially every single V.E. Schwab book ever. Anything she writes is going to be number one on my most anticipated releases list. 🙂
I think Godsgrave will shock you. I am so excited for you to read that because I need to know what you think of it! 😀 ❤️

    1. Hahaha I have read so much Harry Potter lately but #NOREGRETS.
I just need all of Schwab’s books to come out now so I can bask in their perfection??? WHY IS SHE SO AMAZING.
I am sooooo excited and terrified for Godsgrave hahaha I will probably hopefully be writing a full review on it!

  2. I mean GURL I AM A BIT ORGANISED. I have a poll in all my recaps of books people think I should read that month. And i actually follow it. haha

    1. I knowwww and ugh I am in total awe of you!! I could never be that decisive I am a total mood reader haha.

EEKS Yes Nevernight has gorgeous maps and (as it turns out) so does Godsgrave!! I am so excited for Language of Thorns, it’s just so beautiful I can’t!
I have literally zero regrets with how much Harry Potter I have read this year. Haha. Except maybe I regret that I haven’t read MORE HP. XD
ERMEGERD thank you, I should make a career out of blessing people’s eyeballs I could get rich.

  3. I Love this post so much!! I make TBRs regularly but like the true spazzing mood reader that I am, I rarely stick to them. And yet I like making them because they offer me a sense of stability. Such is my life 🤷🏽‍♀️😂I also want to try to get to at least Clockwork Angel this year too! I’ve had the whole series for MONTHS now and I don’t know why I keep putting it off but like I said, SUCH IS MY LIFE 🙃Also can I say how much I love that you are reading the HP books aloud to your boyfriend 😂😂that is gold. Gotta get him hooked on the series some kind of way!

    1. Awe thank you Kalli! I usually just have two or three books I want to read but there is absolutely zero guarantee I’ll read them hahaha. I hear that!
OOOH yas I know I am being totally ambitious when I say I want to read TID this year but we shall see hahaha
OMG the reading out loud is so slow going though because he is never in the mood hahaha BUT I SHALL PREVAIL

  4. I am definitely a “making TBRs ahead of time” kind of person. I always plan out what books I want to read in a month and then I stick to it because I’m more of a seasonal reader than a mood reader. But that’s probably because I can never figure out what my mood is so picking a book that matches it is a challenge 🙃 That’s about as organised as I’ll ever get, though, haha.

  5. I NEVER make TBRs ahead of time, ahah – well, sometimes I just know which books I’ll have to read, based on the ARCs I got lucky enough to get, or the books I recently bought, but… I don’t really follow a strict TBR for a week, a month, or something. I’m more of a mood-reader, sometime I’ll need a contemporary read, then I’ll need something more fantasy-like to escape, and so on. It is GREAT to be spontaneous, ahah 🙂
    Great post! <3 <3

  6. Oh my goodness Jenna Marbles is hilarious so is the Gabbie show hahahaha
I don’t think I have any books on my TBR right now actually! Which is surprising because most of the bloggers I’ve met are like HELP ME I FEEL PAIN FROM BEING CRUSHED UNDER MY TBR
    and I’m like oh I’m sorry I’ll send cake…
But the thing is… I sort of WANT a tbr?? I feel like it’d be fun to try to read a ton of books as quickly as possible and wipe those books out. I need an amazon wishlist for Christmas. Hint, all of the things on that list will be books. 😛

    1. Seriously once you fall into the Jenna Marbles rabbit hole you are NEVER getting out hahahaha
OMG YOU BLESSED SOUL. I mean, my TBR isn’t CRUSHING me per se (I’m much too poor for that at the moment), but my biggest issue right now is that I HAVE unread books on my shelf but I just want to buy new books so I can ignore those ones too.
Haha my Christmas list is entirely comprised of books. SHOCKER.

  7. I literally have NO idea where the year has gone. I mean–I’m pleased pleased with what I have managed to accomplish this year…but WOW. I swear this year has gone SO fast. I’m not really a TBR planner (save for what I know needs to go back to the library, then I’m basically forced to make some resemblance of a plan) but if I’m working on something & need to read it for research, then I’ll usually focus on that. I’m usually a mood reader, though. Whatever grabs my attention at the time gets devoured. (Right now, absolutely loving everything by Rosamund Hodge.)

  8. I can only plan one month ahead. Otherwise is just a chaos and never gets done. “Kings of Scars” is on my list as well. It’s Leigh Bardugo, duh!!! I’d buy it by default anyway. “Obsidio” is another one, despite that, I haven’t read Gemina still, but that cover *heart eyes emoji*. Hope in the final month and a half of this year you’ve read something that’s worth it.
