September Recap // Haul // NaNo // Freakout

My first question for you guys is WHERE DID SEPTEMBER EVEN GO?!?!? I have a slight suspicion that I might have slept through the month. Apparently I am a fox that hibernates and now it’s already October??

I have much to share with you beans!

*I know you weren’t anticipating a pop quiz BUT I BELIEVE IN YOU

First of all I have a need to express how sad I am at this moment. MY COPY OF GODSGRAVE STILL HASN’T SHIPPED. Come on Goldsboro what is going on. They told me that I would be getting a shipping confirmation for the book LAST WEEK. It is now THIS WEEK. Still no book. I am Le Sad.

BUT I did get some other fun books!

I did have An Enchantment of Ravens on preorder and it has shipped but the shipping seems to be taking forever (it shipped like 15 days ago. standard time for BD to Germany is 8 days. #notimpressed.

As you may already know, bookstagram has been a very large part of my life for the last few months! And in September I hit 3k followers!!! I can’t even believe it actually.

I do also need to take a moment to complain about the algorithm though?!?!? Instagram has been adding all these new features and updates and the like and it’s just ruining everything*. The last couple of weeks have been hitting me hard!! NONE OF MY PHOTOS ARE SHOWING UP IN HASHTAGS.

Okay. But aside from that I still super love all my bookstagram friends, and I scored a rep position for @novelheartbeatcreations!! She makes the most beautiful candles and I am so excited!!

*WOW angsty teenage vibe anyone???

Once again this month I made the goal to read more than I ended up reading. I WILL BE BETTER IN OCTOBER I SWEAR. Also I was forced to lower my Goodreads reading goal from 80 to 60 because LET’S FACE IT I’m never going to read 34 books in three months. :,).

My reading habits at the beginning of 2017 were abysmal but I want to read more next year! And I will!

I read a total of four books:

Tower of Dawn

As I feared, I wasn’t as into this book as I was into the rest of the series…but the last half picked up a lot and I am really impressed! I still think it could have been made into a novella, or really condensed the first half.*

Firebolt (Netgalley)

Very disappointing as you can see :,) read my review here!

City of Bones

GUYS I AM FINALLY GETTING INTO THE SHADOWHUNTER WORLD. I love it and I am having ALL THE FEELS. Currently reading City of Glass!

City of Ashes

*please don’t hate me if you thought the book was perfect. I’m a Queen and I DO WHAT I WANT

THE BOOKWORMS HAVE SPOKEN. I want to thank all of you who voted on what book I will be writing for NaNoWriMo in November!!

It was VERY CLOSE*. BUT in the end Red as the Storm** was the winner! So I am excited to write a very autumny fox-y red haired-y dragon-y book in November!!

I don’t have a cover as of yet so here is a super cute autumn-y picture of a fox <3 (taken from pinterest, picture links to pin)

Also I am mildly surprised at how many people voted?!? I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THAT MANY PEOPLE SEE MY BLOG OR CARE and I am flattered :,)

ALSO. Haha. I wanted to finish my edits of Feathers Black (dark gender reversed Sleeping Beauty retelling if you don’t know yet!) in September. I AM LIKE 5 CHAPTERS FROM THE END. This is because I thought it would be a good idea to take a break from life for like a week?!?***

*At one point it was a tie between the two and I thought I would die
** THE TITLE IS STILL WIP haha because RATS is not a very flattering acronym?!!? We shall see
***SPOILER: it’s not generally a good idea. Ever.

Ten Books I Wanted to Throw into the Abyss (you guys really enjoyed me talking about my worst reads bahahaha)

  1. I’m taking part to NaNo too! I’m ready! I just have to do tons of research, finish to correct my first book – just few chapters from the end plus a general re-read during October. I’m looking forward crushing nights of: WHAT IS SLEEP.
I hope that the mighty power of coffee will come to me and help.
By the way I lowered my goals too. It was 100 but I’m still stuck at 57 books. So I will try for 80 books. I might do it if I keep up with a schedule

    1. YAY!! I’m glad to hear you feel ready! I feel the opposite of ready, I’m still stuck on my character sheets and haven’t done any real outlining and the first week of October is already almost over??? :,)

      BUT I am really excited!!

I think it’s really important to acknowledge when a goal isn’t working out and be realistic with ourselves, because I was stressing out so much about my reading goal but now I feel much better about it!

    1. Haha I guess my freaking out has been more inward??? I was freaking out about my reading goal, am currently freaking out because my outline for RatS isn’t done yet and so on haha

I will definitely try to keep my blog updated with my WIP during NaNo! I’m already in love with the world and the characters!!
Haha I’m not a huge fan of turkey but give me all the apple pie!!

  2. Awww. I am all sorts of flattered that you included me in this. My face is blushing ☺️
I think all of my reading and writing goals died in September. Like, blew up. Became a pile of ashes. Did not rise from those ashes. WHATEVER.
I’m so excited for your fox story! The Pinterest board gives me life and makes me happy! Also, Nano. I should plan for that. WHY HAVEN’T I PLANNED FOR THAT YET, WHAT AM I EVEN DOING?!?

    1. OF COURSE. I have to give your beautiful blog some love <3
HAAH my goals die every month tbh but it's fine. I like to pretend it's all whatever.
I'M SO EXCITED FOR MY FOX STORY TOO. I will keep adding to the pinterest board because I litearaly have to chill hahahah

  3. Great post Esther, and oh thanks so so much for featuring my post as well! I am so so so glad you loved it enough to feature it. 🙂 <3
You got some incredible books and got through some incredible books as well. I hope your edition of Godsgrave arrives soon. Insane it's taken so long but hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer. I'm really glad you enjoyed City of Bones, and City of Ashes though a little less. I'm currently reading Clockwork Angel and really enjoying it as well.
Good luck with your NaNo project this year as well. Not long to go until November right?
Hope you have a great October Esther. 🙂 <3

    1. Thank you! You are so welcome, I love your blog as you can probably tell by now!!

I am so excited about the books I got in September honestly! My copy of Godsgrave shipped but it’s not tracked so I guess it will be a nice little surprise when it gets hee.

I am LOVING City of Glass, it’s probably my favorite so far!! I still need to buy TID, it’s nesxt on my list!!

November is way too close haha I need to start planning for it earlier in the future!! Thank you <3

  4. Yay, so glad that’s you’re getting obsessed with the Shadowhunter world! City of Glass is my favorite, so I hope you’re enjoying it! You’re in for a very wild ride. 😂 And congratulations on 3k bookstagram followers; I could barely get 100 when I was on the site for three or so months. ❤️ And thank you so much for linking back to my post about plagiarism and blogging! 😄

    1. I’m so glad too! I’m also secretly glad I waited so long haha because I can just binge read which is my favorite thing of ever.
City of Glass seems to be most people’s favorite and I am starting to see why!! I have a hundred pages left and I am dying!!!
Thank you! I honestly can’t believe I have made it to so many followers (I already hit 3.2k in a week?!?!?!?) I don’t know where they are all coming from (but I’m not complaining haha)

  5. OMG THAT HAUL THO??? Jealous. Tho not jealous of how long your books take ship. This is why I live in America. 😉

Wow I don’t remember which one I voted for?? I think I voted for the fairytale mashup one but tbh I LOVE THEM BOTH. I’m excited to see some snippets of RATS *hint hint* (also RATS is a very pleasant acronym).

Congrats on the 3K on bookstagram!! You DEFINITELY deserve it, I’m just in love with your photos. 😍 HAVE A GREAT OCTOBER!

Honestly it is NOT normal for books to take this long -.- Godsgrave had some sort of problem and other than that I seem to be cursed when it comes to shipping. All of my packages get lost or take forever or some other nonsense.

Haha I am definitely planning on writing both at some point, but I’m also kind of glad that RATS won because FOX. AUTUMN. It just goes so well with all the autumn vibes I’ve been having. (RATS IS AN AWFUL ACRONYM hahaha hence why the title is in itself a WIP for the moment hahaha)

Thank you!! I am so thrilled I have made it so far, I don’t know where they keep coming from but I am definitely grateful!!

  6. Oh wow, congratulations on 3K on Instagram, this is SO great – I love your pictures though and I’m not really surprised 😛
I’m soooo happy you now have your story for NaNoWriMo – obviously, I will wait and refresh your blog page every single day / hour / when I have time for the snippets?! Will there be snippets?!! I am way too curious, I’m sorry, ahah 🙂
I hope you’ll have a great October! xx

    1. Thank you Marie! You are the sweetest omg I am blushing!
I’m just glad I didn’t have to choose the NaNo book myself haha #perksofbeingablogger
You are so nice I can’t take it!! I am definitely planning on doing one or two update posts during NaNo and there MIGHT MAYBE be snippets but who knows!!

  7. I am so jealous that you are getting into the Shadowhunter Novels! I wish I could go back and read them all again for the very first time. They were full of sooo many feels and I really need to organise a reread very soon!

I didn’t set myself a reading goal as September is always a super busy month for my family. I still managed to finish 3 books this month, so that’s pretty great! Only 10 more to go till I hit my yearly goal, so fingers crossed I can pass it!

    1. I know what you mean!! I wish I could go back and read HP for the first time. I’m definitely excited about getting into the Shadowhunter world – I can’t believe I have waited so long!!

Yeah, I tend not to set myself monthly reading goals, though I have been doing a daily goal to read a little every day!! Wow that’s awesome you will hit your year goal in no time! I still have about 30 books to go!

    1. Ugh I hate it when books take so long!! I have gotten to the point where I’m paranoid about buying online because I seem to have been cursed by the bookmail fairy!
Thank you! I am really excited that I have made it so far!

  8. OH WOW BEAUTIFUL BOOK HAUL MUCH! I got an enchantment of ravens as an e-arc and it was good! BUUUTT was slightly disappointing. I hope it comes soon. AND WAIT YOU LIVE IN GERMANY? WHAT NO WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU SERIOUS?

3k followers?? HERE’s SOME ICE CREAM FOR YOU ESTHER THAT IS AMAZING! And yes for being a rep for super cool candles. WOW BOOKSTRAGAM BASICALLY LOVES YOU. I have a suspicion it’s because you have the MOST GORGEOUS PICTURES that BLESS MY SMOL EYEBAlLs. good luck on Nano! I’m doing it for the first time AND AM SO SCARED WHAT EVEN.

    1. UM THANK YOUUU I love my book haul too!! I can’t wait for An Enchantment of Ravens to gget here. I have heart a lot of people who really liked it so I’m intrigued!
I DO LIVE IN GERMANY. I have lived here for 5 years now haha XD

I KNOW I CAN’T EVEN 3k IS SO MUCH. You are so sweet omg I don’t deserve all this love.

Ohhhh good luck with NaNo too! It’s a challenge but it’s soooo fun!!
