Ten Characters To Organise My Life

I’m linking up with the ever amazing The Broke and the Bookish for their Top Ten Tuesday prompt which is actually characters to lead -insert organisation here-

BUT I’M CLEVER so I’ll be picking the characters I think are most suited to lead MY LIFE. CLEVERNESS MAN. I shall, of course, be mentioning the books they are from, what part of my life they will be dictating, and why it is a Very Smart Decision to let them do so.

1. Cath from Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Cath is a girl whose greatest passion is baking, and her biggest dream is to open up her own bakery. This one is probably my most foolish pick?? I decided Cath should be in charge of my food. She can cook my meals (I hope she knows how to cook too??) and be in charge of dessert.

IT’S SMART BECAUSE I’LL NEVER HAVE A DISAPPOINTING DESSERT. Since she loves to bake so much but seems to have difficulty opening her own bake shop, I’ll just employ her and pay her with lemons. I’m sure it will work out fine.

2. Lila Bard from Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab

How to even explain Lila??? She wants to be a pirate and likes magic and getting into trouble. Lila will, of course, be in charge of my adventure time. When I’m not reading and I have a little down time I wouldn’t mind spending some time on a pirate ship. Or competing in a magical tournament.

She will be great for motivating me when I feel lazy or down since she is full of energy. She’s reckless sometimes but we all have our faults let’s not judge.

3. Azriel from A Court of Mist and Fury by S. J. Maas

Azriel is an Illyrian shadowsinger with wings who is both affectionate and shy. I am a shy cookie. Sometimes I really just need some time to myself. A little solitude. A little peace and quiet. Who better to provide me with such than Azriel who is a shadowsinger?? BONUS: he is also devilishly handsome and kind of shy himself. PERFECT MATCH DON’T YOU THINK??

Azriel could use his shadows to hide me from people I don’t feel like talking to like guests who show up unexpectedly at the apartment.

4. Jace from The Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare

Jace?? Sassy and reckless. HOW ELSE TO DESCRIBE HIM. Now, you may be wondering: how the HELL can Jace contribute to your day to day life in any practical manner??

Considering the fact that I will one day be a Very Famous author, I will be needing him to be the head of my security detail. I mean. If demons ever come after me, who better to have on hand than Jace? Also it’s just a plus that he is so sassy. I like sass. Give me all the sass.

5. Lazlo from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

A bookworm with big dreams and a great imagination. I feel like this one should be a no brainer?? I obviously need Lazlo for all the bookish recommendations. And considering the fact that he has a vivid imagination just like mine and is hopelessly infatuated with fairytales, WHAT COULD GO WRONG.

Other than him getting lost in the library when I send him to find some books for me to read. Be creative here guys.

6. Mia from Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Trained assassin with shadow not-cat pet named Mister Kindly who is sassy and likes to insult Mia. So, since I have Jace to fend of any supernatural threats, I need Mia the assassin to fend off all OTHER threats. The two of them are pretty strong personalities so they won’t like sharing their head duties but we’ll make it work.

Also Mia has an actual conscience unlike most trained assassins out there?? So I think there won’t be any accidental killings of innocent children or anything. BREATHE.

7. Nina from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Grisha on the run who likes to have fun. Nina is sassy as well, which I love. Plus she is obsessed with waffles and just food in general so we already have a conversation topic!

I know that Nina isΒ technically a render but I will keep her handy just in case I get a paper cut that needs healing. Or, you know, to dye my hair. SHE IS A MULTI-TALENT OKAY a must have for any team.

8. Rhy from Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab

The prince of Red London, does what he wants and is a squishy ball of marshmallow. I think Rhy is the perfect addition to my team?? He is probably the only one with any ‘normal’ social skills. So he’ll be in charge of planning for me to go out into public, and tell me when I’m being to awkward. Also jump in and save me should I (heaven forbid) actually have to talk to strangers.

He’s also the life of the party, so by default everyone will love me by association. #winning

9. Jest from Heartless by Marissa Meyer

JEST: PERFECTION. OKAY OKAY I know I am double dipping in some books, but I need more than one person on my publicity team so I’m picking Jest. IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH I AM PERSONALLY IN LOVE WITH HIM.*

He is witty and charming and sweet. He would make everyone laugh, and probably all the girls would envy me. Not that that’s what I want…

The only problem is I’ll have to stop him from wearing all black. But he can keep his jesters hat.

10. Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

Luna Lovegood actually isn’t my favorite Harry Potter character. I KNOW I DIFFER FROM EVERYONE ELSE SHOCKING. I don’t actually have a favorite??? I LOVE THEM ALL OKAY. But I feel like I have a lot of really grounded people on my team and I need a little aloofness to balance it all out.

Plus I just read two chapters about Luna during my reread and I think I am finally starting to understand her more than I did when I was younger?? Bless her. We have so much in common.

I had so much fun writing this post, I hope that you guys enjoyed reading who I would put on my team to manage My Entire Life!

Who would you pick to manage your life and why? Do you agree with my picks?? Would you have picked someone else for certain departments???

  1. Oh my god I LOVE your take on this topic Esther, and I love your picks as well. If you did end up with these characters organising your life you would definitely be in for an interesting life. πŸ˜€
I would love to have Cath baking desserts for me, the descriptions of everything she made in Heartless made me hungry, and really inspired me to get back into baking as well. Also I would love to talk with Lazlo about books, in fact I’d love to have Lazlo’s life. Living in a library would be a dream come true for me, in fact, living in the library in Strange the Dreamer would be a dream come true. πŸ™‚
Great picks for this post. πŸ™‚ <3

    1. Awe thanks hahaha I felt clever XD And omg yes my life would certainly never be boring that’s for sure!!
It would be a struggle having Cath as a baker I’m sure I would get very unhealthy XDXD
Ahhhh Lazlo would be the actual perfect bookworm friend!!
      Thank you!

  2. I LOVE THE PEOPLE WHO YOU HAVE CHOSEN! I have Nevernight and Heartless sitting on my shelves. I NEED TO READ THEM SO BAD OKAY

But Lila! AGH TEACH ME HOW TO BE A PIRATE?! Like Lilah just needs to show me all her bad-ass ways. I am such an awkward pumpkin. AND RHY IS FABULOUS but he’d probably just be obsessing over Alucard the whole time which I don’t even mind. AND NINA BETTER SHARE HER WAFFLES WITH ME

    1. EEK thank you!! I’m pretty pleased with my selection myself! AHHH I hope you read them!! I did like Heartless, but mostly just for the sweets and Jest, so I’m interested in what you think of it!

LILA IS ACTUAL PERFECTION. I need her in my life honestly. And Rhy is basically the best of ever with his sass and adorableness! NINA AND HER WAFFLES THO. GURL.

  3. Omg I want to be best friends with Luna and I will 500% go where ever she leads. I feel like letting Jace direct your life will end in adventure and DEATH so good luck with that. πŸ˜‚ I am all down for Lila bard but also….death…and adventure, but mostly death. I’m just going to stick with Luna and Lazlo. I think there would be books and weirdness and it will be calm?!? MY NEW FAMILY. ADOPT ME, LAZLO AND LUNA. (Wow their names are similar too. My new ship.)

    1. NO ADVENTURE WITHOUT DEATH YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT so I’ll take the risk hahaha
Same with Lila. I mean, how bad could it be??? :,)
Luna and Lazlo are so safe Cait!! I’m disappointed in you XD XD OMG that would be the perfect ship EVER????? They would make such a great couple but now I feel like I’m betraying Sarai :,)

  4. Ohhh this is such a fun post, I loved your picks, even if…well, I haven’t read all of the books here ahah. I think that on the cooking side, I’d have to pick Lara Jean, since I haven’t read Heartless… but yes, I’d need someone to make me desserts, I LOVE DESSERTS and cakes and cookies and everything. Food is life. After books, obviously.
Lila and Rhy would be so amazing to have on a team as well, both for adventures and, well, like you mentioned…socializing, hahaha, I can perfectly imagine him saving the day – well, saving us from all the awkward situations with his smile πŸ˜›
    Great post! πŸ™‚

  5. Yes, yes, and yes to almost each of the characters you’ve picked since I haven’t read all of the books. Lila would be the perfect buddy to go on adventures and live life to the fullest. But as someone who likes craving food so much I’d choose Amma from The Caster Chronicles to be in charge of my food. Her pies and everything, in general, are the best. Nina would be the best friend everybody needs. She is confident, sassy and likes food, and the best of all – she can really easy end the life of your enemies (just an example). It was such a blast to read your list. Made my day πŸ™‚

  6. Aaaah yes Nina from SoC! Nina would definitely be a little more gregarious and a million times more hilarious than I am, but I would imagine spending a day with her and just conversing would be a wonderful memory to keep for sure πŸ˜‹ It’s interesting that you mention that you understand Luna a little bit better than you were a child — that’s exactly the reason why I reread my childhood favorites, especially Harry Potter, because I feel like I learn something new and more insightful every time as my experience (and wisdom! 😊) grows with me. Awww, reading that just made me suddenly want to pick up Harry Potter again… 😍 Great character picks, and I enjoyed reading your post!
